Updated September 20, 2018 10:57:35 Sydney’s new residential building will house a commercial glazier, which the local council says will “provide significant economic benefits to the city”.
The new building will be used to store glazing materials and also to accommodate commercial businesses.
It will be built on the site of the former Victorian Parliament building and will have a capacity of about 250 people.
The project was first proposed in 2017 and was approved by the City of Sydney in 2018.
Mayor Michael Daley said the building would be an “economic stimulus for the CBD”.
“The project will be designed to provide significant economic benefit to the City by providing the commercial glazed and manufactured glass market with the opportunity to establish new businesses and jobs, thereby enhancing the economic vitality of Sydney,” he said.
Construction on the building is due to start in late 2019. “
The city’s future prosperity depends on the continued vitality and vitality of our CBD.”

City of Newcastle mayor Mark Williams said the new building would also help to make Newcastle “the preferred site for glaziers to operate and grow”.
“This new building is a significant contribution to our city’s revitalisation and we are thrilled it will be completed at the earliest opportunity,” he told ABC Newcastle.
The project is part of a $20 million project to create more than 1,500 jobs in the city, and will provide an estimated $1.5 million in economic benefits for the city. “
They have worked closely with the State Government to ensure the site is suitable for this type of development.”

It is expected to create 2,000 new construction jobs.
Mayor Williams said Newcastle had the “most vibrant and exciting CBD in the country”.
“With a population of more than 70,000, Newcastle is a city of opportunity and it is clear that the new project will provide a boost to our CBD, creating more jobs for Newcastle and creating thousands of new permanent jobs across the region,” he added.
“We also look forward to hosting the first ever Newcastle International Glazing Convention, which is set to take place in September 2019.”
The Government has committed $3.5 billion over 10 years for projects to revitalise the city’s streets and infrastructure, including a new tram line.
Construction of the tram line is expected next year.
The new tram route will include a new “cargo terminal” and an underground tunnel for the tram system.
Mayor Mark Williams welcomed the Government’s commitment to the CBD.
“These new investments in our CBD will provide economic opportunity and help to revitalize our city and our region,” Mayor Williams told ABC Radio Newcastle.
